About UGC Approved Journal

UGC India is curating lists of authentic, ethical and high quality research journals. To find such journals, UGC has established a consortium named Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (CARE).

The journal IJFMR is not approved by UGC CARE yet. However, as IJFMR is a peer reviewed journal, it is valid according to UGC's guidelines and recommendation.

Some Deeper Information about UGC CARE Approval:

Some years ago, UGC removed almost all Indian journals from their list; they kept only those journals which were listed in Scopus and Web of Science; which basically mean that UGC relieved itself from the burden of verifying journals, and decided to approve later only those journals which come as recommendation from the IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) committees of the Indian universities and colleges. Reviewing and including more journals in the list is very (s)low.

There are very few Indian journals in the UGC CARE list; almost all of the journals are from out of India; and almost all the Indian journals in the list are related to linguistic, sociology, literature, arts and humanities disciplines. Many Indian journals are claiming that they are approved by UGC CARE, however including IJFMR, almost no Indian journals are in the list of journals approved by UGC CARE. Some of the Indian journals are claiming that they are approved by UGC CARE and showing old or fake screenshots of their journal being in the list of UGC approved journals. It is advisable that you do not believe their own claim and you should check the list of journals approved by UGC CARE on the UGC's website before submitting your article/research to such journals.

As UGC has released a notification that peer reviewed journals are also valid, IJFMR and many other journals are valid according to the notification and UGC's guidelines. UGC has allocated different marks, which can be considered when employing and promoting professors and teachers in universities and colleges, according to which, a paper published in a journal approved by UGC CARE is given 1 more mark than a paper published in a peer reviewed journal.
