Information Warfare, Propaganda and the Manipulation of Opinion in Times of Conflict: The Case of the Russia-Ukraine War

Author(s) Philippe Ibitowa
Country Cote D'ivoire
Abstract The Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict, which has bloodied Europe since February 2022, gives the main protagonists of the crisis the opportunity to experiment with an old recipe for war: propaganda. This article, which draws on the theory of argumentation, as defended by Breton (2015), attempts to show how and about what Russians and Westerners engage in a campaign of reciprocal demonization, often to the chagrin of public opinion trapped in the whirlwind of disinformation spread by the agencies and propaganda experts of each camp.
