Abstract Education is very important for each and every human being. Education is identified as one of the important requirements for attaining qualitative change in the life of and individual. Women need an education which will not only help them in the search and acquisition of new skills and knowledge, but also help them to acquire and strenghten values like justice, equality, honesty, truthfulness and solidarity. After Independence the Government has taken different measures for increasing women literacy. Women who fought for women's education in India. For centuries women were constrained in the four walls of the house and education was reserved for the upper caste men. So many wondorous women play a vital roll for increacing women literacy after independence in India. Women play an imperative role in making a nation progressive and guide it towards development. They are essential possessions of a lively humanity required for national improvement, so if we have to see a bright future of women in our country.
