Abstract During the past few decades, technology has grown rapidly around the world, as the internet has become a ubiquitous presence and has broken down geographical boundaries with regards to information flow. As our daily lives become increasingly connected with data, it has become a critical part of our lives. Data plays a vital role in every aspect of our daily lives, from social media to banking to retail. Individuals must have control over their personal data because of this increased interconnectedness, which comes with new and complex privacy challenges. Various sectors in India are being digitized and the digital India program has been launched, making it one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the world. There have been a number of legislations introduced by the Indian government as a reaction to growing concerns about protection of personal data.
