Abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic presented the U.S. trucking industry with unprecedented challenges, testing the resilience of a sector that is critical to maintaining the flow of goods across the country. This paper investigates the operational hurdles faced by trucking companies during the pandemic, focusing on supply chain disruptions, freight volatility, driver health and safety, mental health issues, and management's strategic responses. Data collected from personal experiences, industry interviews, and social media reveals the immense pressure faced by drivers and operations teams to adapt to rapidly changing conditions. The study explores the lasting impact on the industry and outlines recommendations for future crisis preparedness. |
