Religiosity and Its Correlation with Negative Externalities: a Cross-cultural Analysis

Abstract	This research investigates the relationship between religiosity and a range of negative societal externalities, including crime rates, global peace, terrorism, press freedom, drug and addiction rates, global inequality, and political stability. The study uses data from major international databases, normalizes it for consistency, and analyzes the correlation. A moderate positive correlation is found, suggesting that higher levels of religiosity might be associated with higher rates of these negative externalities. However, the relationship is not strong enough to conclude that religiosity is the primary factor influencing these externalities. The role of governance and economic development are considered as potential mediating factors.
