Abstract | The Naga Raj or popularly known as the Zeliangrong movement was a remarkable event in the political history of North East India during the colonial rule. The Naga Raj was an anti-colonial movement. However, there were also socio-religious factors responsible for the outbreak of the movement. The article delves into the nature of the movement, and also attempts to understand the socio-political nature of Manipur society during the colonial rule. |
