Abstract This study delves into the dynamics of land use and land cover (LULC) in East and West Karbi Anglong using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. In response to escalating environmental changes, remote sensing technologies, particularly Sentinel-2, offer crucial insights for sustainable land management. Through an analysis of LULC patterns, the study aims to inform evidence-based decisions for environmental conservation and resource management in the region. The present study highlights the utility of remote sensing in LULC assessments and acknowledges the necessity for customized approaches in regions with distinctive features such as Karbi Anglong. Methodologically, temporally stratified Sentinel-2 datasets were utilized, with meticulous pre-processing and accuracy assessments ensuring reliability. Results indicate notable shifts in LULC classes, including urban expansion and vegetation decline. Despite limitations, such as potential inaccuracies in data processing, the study emphasizes the importance of monitoring environmental changes and advocating for sustainable land management strategies.
