Abstract | Antonio Gramsci, an Italian Marxist philosopher and political theorist, introduced the concept of hegemony as a means to understand the complex dynamics of power and control within societies. This paper delves into Gramsci's theory of hegemony, exploring its origins, key components, and implications. Through a critical analysis of Gramsci's work, this paper seeks to illuminate how hegemony operates as a mechanism of social control, shaping ideologies, institutions, and everyday practices. By examining contemporary examples, it further elucidates the relevance and applicability of Gramsci's ideas in understanding power relations in the modern world. |
