Menstrual Taboos: a Gynocritical Study of Menstrual Myths in the Selected Novels of Shashi Deshpande and Bapsi Sidhwa

Abstract The paper basically focusses on the typical menstrual myths that exists in our society and how women are vicimized on the basis of their biological traits. The paper studies the idea of menstruation as a taboo existing in our society as depicted by Bapsi Sidhwa and Shashi Deshpande in their feminist works. The works share similar themes of victimization and subjugation of women which we witness in various cultures across the world.
