Abstract This study reveals the methodological procedures adopted to carry out a study on teachers’ perceptions of alternative strategies to corporal punishment in basic schools in Ghana. The study adopted the constructivism-interpretivism paradigms and the qualitative research approach to guide the study. Phenomenological research design was used to identify, describe and understand the teachers’ perceptions of alternative strategies. Other methodological procedures adopted for the study as well as the reasons for adopting them are explained to guide future researchers in this area of research. Conclusion is drawn from the discussion for the adoption of this methodology in conducting similar studies to attain the necessary results.
