This process enhances material properties such as hardness, toughness, and wear resistance, making parts more reliable in high-stress environments. The proper heat treatment eliminates most failure modes by addressing common failure modes such as fatigue, corrosion, and wear.
This paper discusses the importance of heat treatment to rotational parts and how its effective control reduces failure, prolonging mechanical systems' life span
