Unlocking the Potential of WebRTC: Optimizing Real-Time Communication in Home Security Cameras

Author(s) Sibin Thomas

Abstract This paper looks at how WebRTC technology could be used to make home security cams better by adding real-time features like live view and two-way communication [1]. We show a high-level design for integrating WebRTC and talk about its benefits, such as peer-to-peer communication and low latency. But we also talk about the problems with WebRTC that hasn't been improved, like the time it takes to set up a session and the fact that networks can be unstable [2]. Here are some optimization ideas to help with these problems: predictive session setup, session caching, and adaptive bitrate streaming. The goal of these changes is to reduce delay, make the network more reliable, and improve the user experience. Lastly, we talk about how these strategies can be used for more than just home security. We focus on how they can improve real-time contact in a digital world that is always changing.
