Abstract R.S.Bhat and S.S.Kamath defined the strong independence number s(G) and proved that s (G) ≤ . In this paper we characterize the class of graphs attaining the upper bound. We also characterize the graphs which attain the upper bound in Vizing type results for strong (weak) independence numbers.
