Abstract | Solid waste generation in India has increased tremendously in the last few decades due to increasing population and rapid economic development. Effective waste management plays an important role in solving the problems of a healthy environment. Although the formula of 3-R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) is important for the safety of the environment, the role of waste pickers has always been central and important. Usually rag pickers earn their livelihood by collecting usable items from garbage dumps. Apart from this, there has been a lot of growth of solid waste in India due to Increasing population, rapid urbanization, insufficient knowledge of new techniques of workers working in waste management systems, and other factors continue to increase waste generation.Recently the Government of India has given a boost to this sector through Swachh Bharat abhiyan and as a result of this, solid waste management market in India is expected to grow CAGR of 7.5% during the period (2021-2026).
