Author(s) | Beryl Sugirtham |

Country | India |
Abstract | Human rights, under article 21 of the Indian constitution protects the Slum dwellers and forced Eviction violates the fundamental right of millions of people living in slums. The Constitution of India and the universal declaration of human rights give slum dwellers the right to choose their place of residence, and the right to a healthy life. However, the absence of a comprehensive development plan for slums is accelerating a spatial divide. The right not to be forcibly evicted is an element of the human right to adequate housing. |
