Migrating Home-Grown Sales Systems to Salesforce CRM: Challenges, Solutions, and Long-Term Benefits

Author(s) Kiran Konakalla
Country USA
Abstract This paper discusses the migration of a company's home-grown internal sales tracking system to Salesforce CRM, outlining the steps involved, the challenges architects face during such a migration, and how to overcome them. Home-grown systems often have limitations such as lack of scalability, difficult reporting, and limited cloud capabilities, which Salesforce Sales Cloud addresses with its suite of automation and reporting tools. The paper further explores the key migration steps, potential pitfalls, governance concerns, and the benefits post-migration, along with KPIs to measure success.
