Abstract | Data protection laws are instrumental in preserving individuals' privacy rights and regulating personal data processing in the digital era. This article conducts a comprehensive comparative examination of the data protection laws in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and the Cayman Islands. It focuses on their legislative frameworks, key principles, rights of data subjects, enforcement mechanisms, and cross-border data transfers. Through an in-depth exploration of relevant statutes, case law, and regulatory guidance, this article aims to provide insights into the similarities, differences, and emerging trends in data protection regulation within these offshore financial jurisdictions. |
