The Judeo-Christian Decalogue in the Quran: Essay on the Ten Commandments

Abstract The Abrahamic religions have many beliefs and practices in common. Indeed, they are part of the same lineage and constitute continuityalong the time axis. This has generated, therefore, similarities in their laws and prohibitions. The Judeo-Christian Decalogue,also known as the “Ten Commandments of God” in Christianity or the “Ten Words of God” in Judaism, is the starting point of aqualitative analysis of sacred Abrahamic texts in order to show the parallelism between the three celestial religions.

The object of this research, analysis of sacred texts, requires not only faith and belief but also a rational understanding. To deal with this question, philosophers adopt different attitudes.
