Abstract The agricultural sector is one of the most important sectors of the economy, especially with respect to employment and this sector is undergoing agrarian crisis. Growth rate in this sector is very important because it will bring about growth rate in the overall economy of India. This paper discusses the issues and challenges faced by Indian agriculture and also directs the road ahead. Yield and production of several crops have been analyzed over various states and also the statistics have been compared with international countries.
