Abstract Background: Pregnancy and childbirth represent pivotal moments in a woman's life, often accompanied by mental health challenges during both the prenatal and postpartum periods. The emergence of mental health issues during these phases can significantly impact a woman's well-being. Postpartum depression (PPD) stands out as a prevalent complication, affecting approximately 10–22% of women in their childbearing years.
Objective: To assess the prevalence of postpartum depression in the southern part of Kerala.
