Effective Use of Language for Teaching Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disability

Abstract This research paper explores the effective use of language strategies tailored to the educational needs of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The study examines the role of language in facilitating cognitive development, social interaction, and academic achievement in children with IDD. Through a review of existing literature and case studies, the paper identifies key language interventions and instructional approaches that have been shown to improve learning outcomes for this population. The research highlights the importance of using clear, consistent, and multi-sensory communication methods to enhance comprehension and engagement. Additionally, the paper discusses the challenges teachers face in adapting language use to the varied needs of children with IDD and provides recommendations for professional development and inclusive education practices.
