Author(s) Niyokwizera Emmanuel
Country Uganda
Abstract Uganda is largely a traditional society with many music works falling under the category of traditional music. The music industry is generally protected under the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Act 2006, and currently there are proposed amendments for the law. The research paper therefore seeks to highlight the state of protection for traditional music in Uganda and to explore if offering sound protection can create some opportunities for the creators, communities and the country
