Abstract | Critical care unit team dynamics are crucial for effective patient care, especially in nursing contexts. Key principles include skilled communication, effective decision-making, appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition, and authentic leadership. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for adaptable team structures and cross-training. Effective team dynamics involve shared goals, mutual respect, and a collective approach to problem-solving. Critical care nurses play a vital role as patient advocates, educators, and communicators. Research shows that psychological safety, transactive memory, and leadership positively impact team performance in critical care settings. These concepts encourage innovation, learning, and the use of collective knowledge. Maintaining a positive team culture requires continuous effort, but embracing these principles can create a more rewarding work environment for nurses and colleagues. |
