Abstract | Election fraud poses a significant challenge to democratic processes worldwide, and India, with its vast and complex electoral system, is no exception. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the challenges and solutions associated with developing effective election fraud detection systems in India. We identify key challenges, including the diverse sources of election data, the large scale of elections, technological limitations, political sensitivities, the evolving nature of fraud techniques, data privacy concerns, and coordination issues among various agencies. To address these challenges, we explore potential solutions such as the adoption of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, the integration of blockchain technology for secure and transparent elections, improved voter verification methods, increased public awareness and training, and the necessity of regular audits and reviews. By examining successful case studies from other regions and analyzing their applicability to the Indian context, this paper aims to offer actionable recommendations for enhancing the integrity of elections in India. The findings highlight the need for a multi-faceted approach that combines technology, policy and public engagement to develop a robust election fraud detection system. Improved fraud detection is anticipated to strengthen the democratic process in India by ensuring fairer elections, increasing public trust and reinforcing the legitimacy of electoral outcomes. |
