Abstract | Metabolic syndrome is multifactorial disease frequently associated with cluster of pathology including obesity hypertriglyceridemia, impaired glucose tolerance and insulin resistance; collectively referred to as the metabolic syndrome. There has been heightened awareness of metabolic syndrome and subsequent increase in the clinical attention directed towards prevention due to its strong association with premature morbidity and mortality. In particular there is predisposed concept that the individual has greater risk for developing type 2 Diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Ayurveda is a science intended from employing the measures of healthy life in which there is no direct reference of metabolic syndrome. Therefore, metabolic syndrome can be included under the broad umbrella of santarpanjanya vikaras. which a can put forward to a better management strategy by assessing the metabolic syndrome on the basis of santarpanjanya vikaras. |
