Abstract | The Southeast Asian nations are confronted with a rapidly evolving energy landscape, characterised by increasing demand due to a rapidly growing population, vulnerability to external disruptions and several actors, and the imperative for sustainable development. This paper underscores the pressing need for resilient energy security within the Southeast Asian region. Addressing the multifaceted challenges of energy security requires a comprehensive approach that integrates technological advancements, policy frameworks, and collaborative efforts among the states in the region. The analysis delves into the diverse energy sources prevalent in Southeast Asia, emphasising the importance of diversification to enhance resilience. Emphasising on the need for regional interdependencies on the geopolitical, economic, and environmental dimensions that underscore the urgency for robust energy security strategies the paper explores the significance of regional integration theories making the above possible. Drawing upon case studies and current trends, the research underscores the significance of regional cooperation, information sharing, and infrastructure development as pivotal components in fostering tenacity. In conclusion, the paper tries to advocate for a collective commitment to building a resilient energy ecosystem in Southeast Asia through the regional organisation ASEAN, ensuring the region's sustained economic growth, environmental sustainability, and overall security in the face of evolving global energy dynamics. |
