Abstract This article discusses about “priest as a minister of the liturgy and the sacrament of the Holy Order”. The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the continuation of Jesus Christ's priesthood, which He bestowed upon His Apostles. This is why the Catechism of the Catholic Church refers to the Sacrament of Holy Orders as "the sacrament of apostolic ministry." "Ordination" comes from the Latin word ordinatio, which means to incorporate someone into an order. In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, a man is incorporated into the priesthood of Christ at one of three levels: the episcopate, the priesthood, or the diaconate. This research method uses a library research approach with an analytical method which aims to deepen the study of the situation priesthood history in the Old Testament and in the New testament priesthood. This article also contributes to strengthening the value of priest in Catholic religious teachings, thus encouraging the people that priest is the mediator between people and Jesus in society.
