Author(s) P Thiyagarajan
Country India
Abstract Tagore can be rightly called the “the morning star of the literary Renaissance” in Bengal. His poems are endowed with boundless love for liberty, fraternity and equality. He sings of the smiles and tears of human life. Even his early poems show great concern for the strife, sorrows and sufferings of mankind. He condemns caste and creeds which divide mankind. Tagore wants the mind of the people will be fearless and their head should be always held erect with self respect. He is essentially a revolutionary and his mission is not to destroy but to build - his spirit is against the accepted principles and practices, coupled with his desire to make religion spiritually humanistic. Tagore brings his spiritual vision to face the social problems and try to lift the society to an idealistic plane of spiritual life. He worships God not only in privacy but also in every single manifestation of the outside world.
