Abstract | Efficient Virtual Machine (VM) placement is a critical challenge in cloud computing environments, influencing resource utilization, energy efficiency, cost, and Quality of Service (QoS). Over the years, numerous approaches have been proposed to optimize VM placement, ranging from heuristic and meta heuristic algorithms to machine learning. In this paper we provide a comprehensive review on various VM placement techniques which mainly focussed on factors such as energy consumption, VM migration, resource utilization and SLA violations. |
