Abstract This research paper explores the challenges faced by working journalists and students who want to pursue their career in journalism in Jamshedpur, a city known for its industrial landscape and diverse community. Using unstructured interviews with 10 senior journalists from local newspapers and insights from the students enrolled in professional degree, this study delves into the professional, ethical, and socio-economic difficulties they encounter. The findings highlight the interplay of resource constraints, editorial pressures, safety concerns, and evolving public expectations in shaping the journalism profession in the region.
