Abstract This paper investigates the theoretical specific impulse of lab-scale hybrid rocket motors using paraffin wax fuels. It analyzes area ratios (2.0–5.0), combustion reactions with gaseous oxygen, and specific heat ratios. Numerical methods solve non-linear exit Mach functions. Specific impulse predictions for four waxes under static tests aid hybrid propulsion optimization
