Abstract | A few years ago, divorce was considered one of the rare social phenomena in the Indian context. As society began to take a new shape due to modernization and technological advancement, the rigid boundaries that governed traditional Indian life began to be replaced by a new outlook and way of life. This provided the moment when women began to be employed, which increased gender incompatibility due to the changing positions of women. In addition to this, the evolution of the demographic contexts, from the rural lifestyle to the urban or metropolitan lifestyle, the change from the extended family system to the nuclear family, the choice of the husband to the detriment of the arranged marriage are the characteristics of the new scenario in India. In a modern society, the dissolution of marriage arises from the idea that it is better to live an independent life than to maintain a marriage in terms of personal well-being. |
