Research Trends of Unorganized Sector Workers in India

Abstract | Labour is the unique factor for the production that is directly related to human effort and their contribution to the individual as well as national economy. In this way, every worker is a creator of their society as well as nation therefore laborers are the great asset to every nation. Vast majority of the unorganized labour or employee are existing in various Indian informal sector who are directly shaping the nation economy. At presents, more than 90 percentage of workforce and about 50 percentage of the national product are accounted by the informal economy. A high proportion of socially and economically underprivileged sections of society are engaged in the unorganized economic activities. Here, the authors have tried to understand this unorganized sector from various perspectives like demographic parameters, legal provisions, evolution since independence, nature of work etc. Lastly some recent researches on this sector are reviewed which are mostly related to their socio-economic conditions, problems faced by women and tribal workers while working etc. but the educational aspects of their families have never been looked into.
