Abstract | Asthma remains a global health challenge, affecting over 300 million individuals. While inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) and short-acting β₂-agonists (SABAs) form the cornerstone of therapy, emerging biologic agents and personalized approaches are revolutionizing care. This review explores recent advancements in biologic therapies targeting specific inflammatory pathways, the role of biomarkers in precision medicine, and the evolving impact of COVID-19 on asthma management. We also evaluate barriers to control, such as poor adherence and phenotypic heterogeneity, and propose strategies to integrate novel therapies into clinical practice. By synthesizing evidence from key trials and epidemiological studies, this work underscores the importance of tailored treatment algorithms to reduce morbidity and mortality. |
