Management of mutrashmari - A case study

Abstract | Ashmari is one of the commonest disease of the mutravaha srotas. It is a daruna vyadhi and one among the Ashtamahagada, this shows how difficult to treat a disease. Urolithiasis is commonest condition with prevalence rate 1% to 20% across the globe due to modern life style and global climatic changes. Acharya sushruta said that one has to treat the ashmari with ksheera, kshara kashaya and ghrita etc. before going for surgical management. Qualities of kshara like chedana, bhedana, lekhana and kaphaghna helps in the disintegration of stone also prevents the recurrence. A male patient of 53 years old came with the complaints of pain in the right flank region and burning micturition since 7 days, and history of laser surgery 10years back for renal calculi diagnosed as urolithiasis and advised Ikshu paneeya kshara and pashanabhedadi kwatha churna kashaya for 28 days and got relief from the symptoms. |
