Diagnostic Accuracy of RIPASA Score in Acute Appendicitis

Author(s) Dr. Mr. Unaiz Hameedh A, Divya Yatheendranathan

Abstract The study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the RIPASA score, a 2010 scoring system used to identify acute appendicitis, a common cause of surgical emergencies. The study involved 80 patients with the disease, with a majority reporting positive histology results. The RIPASA score had a higher sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value compared to the Alvarado and Modified Alvarado scoring systems. The results suggest that the RIPASA score is a more effective diagnostic tool for acute appendicitis in Indian patients.
