Abstract | Money laundering is a contemporary crime that emerged in the late twentieth century, aimed at involving the financial sector in tracking down criminal proceeds and preventing ongoing criminal activities, especially those that cross national borders. This article provides examples that showcase the different techniques used and the types of individuals involved, along with various classifications. It explores how money laundering relates to efforts in controlling corruption and examines the impact of anti- money laundering measures. Additionally, it offers a brief evaluation of the outcomes of these control systems. A comprehensive and rigorous framework has been established to combat money laundering, yielding significant benefits in crime and corruption control that should be prioritized by policymakers. A research summary on money laundering would define it as the act of concealing the illegal origins of funds acquired through criminal means, converting them into seemingly legitimate assets through methods such as placement, layering, and integration. This paper examine contemporary issues related to money laundering the effectiveness of existing legal frame work, recent enforcement actions, and emerging challenges posed by technological advancements. |
