Abstract Shift-share analysis is a statistical method used to analyze and understand the changes in trade patterns over time. It is often used to assess the competitiveness and productivity of different industries or regions.The analysis involves decomposing the overall change in trade into three components: (1) changes due to domestic growth, (2) changes due to the overall growth of the global economy, and (3) changes due to trade competition.
