Strategies and Policy Frameworks for Low Carbon Mobility in Indian Cities

Abstract	This paper endeavours to illuminate the challenges and issues that need to be addressed to achieve sustainable urban transportation system in Indian cities. This paper will try to trace pattern of urbanization, motorization and their impact on mobility, environment, health and road safety. Further, the paper will explain various efforts taken by government authorities to address the transportation issues and their outcomes. The paper also explains various strategies which if be adopted will ensure low carbon growth of urban areas. Low carbon cities will help in enhancing India's energy security and lower its carbon footprint.
