Esl Trainee Teachers' Readiness Towards 21st Century Teaching Practices from a Private University

Abstract | In order to provide quality education, there are a lot of preparations needed for an English as a Second Language (ESL) trainee teacher to teach in a school. Practicums are intended to provide trainee teachers with authentic practical work experiences in teaching to enrich their professional wisdom. Hence, this study attempts to investigate the level of ESL trainee teachers’ overall readiness towards practicum teaching. Questionnaire was used in this study to gather data on 15 ESL trainee teachers from a private University in Kinta, Ipoh. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data and the results show that the participants readiness towards 21st century teaching was high (mean = 3.61). |
