Execution of Maharaja Nandakumar: Punishment for Deeds or Planned Judicial Murder?

Author(s) Partha Banerjee
Country India
Abstract The Maharaja Nandakumar Trial, which took place in 1775 in British-ruled India, is still a contentious and deeply troubling chapter in the history of the Indian legal system. This research article aims to supply an in-depth analysis of the trial, its historical context, and the circumstances surrounding it. Using primary and secondary sources, we explore the factors that contributed to what many believe was a judicial murder orchestrated by the British East India Company. Through a comprehensive review of the available evidence, we shed light on the injustices faced by Maharaja Nandakumar and the broader implications of this trial on India's struggle for justice and autonomy.
