Medicinal plants contain complex chemical substances, known as secondary plant metabolites, which have curative properties. Among these plants, Ficus religiosa, also known as the sacred fig, Bodhi tree, Peepal in Sanskrit, is highly regarded in the field of medicine. It is a sacred tree worshipped by Hindus and is found all over India. Recent studies have highlighted its diverse chemical structure and reported its efficacy in relieving multiple disorders.
