Author(s) Deepika Sharma

Abstract This study aims to examine the impact of demographic and socio-economic factors on the acceptance of contract farming among farmers in Uttar Pradesh, India, and its subsequent effect on agricultural productivity. Data was collected from a sample of 385 farmers using a structured questionnaire, and the
results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings show that age, education, farm size, and access to agricultural resources are significant determinants of farmers’ participation in contract farming. Furthermore, participation in contract farming has a positive and
significant effect on agricultural productivity, as measured by perceived productivity. The study suggests that policy interventions targeting the improvement of farmers' socio-economic conditions and increasing their access to credit can enhance the uptake of contract farming and boost agricultural
productivity in Uttar Pradesh.
