Employing Energy-aware Multipath Geographical Routing to Bypass Routing Gaps in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract Geo-Routing also called Geographic Routing or Position-based Routing is a routing principle that relies on geographic position information. With this information, a message can be routed to the destination without knowledge of the network topology or a prior route discovery. Energy conservation and load balance are two important goals in designing routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) due to two challenges. First, the sensor nodes are usually powered only by batteries but expected to operate for a long period; Second, it is infeasible and costly to replace or recharge batteries once sensor nodes have been deployed.
