Competitive Advantage from Technology Adoption and Innovation as a Factors of Success in Start-ups from NCR

Abstract Adoption of technology and innovation are important factors which determine the success of startups. Technology assists the venture in enhancing efficiencies, optimizing resources, and scaling the business across geographies. Implementing innovation in products and processes enables the organization to stay ahead of other players in the sector. Thus, technology adoption and innovation offer competitive advantages to the startup which helps it to survive and thrive. This study explores the adoption of technology and implementation of innovation in startups in the Delhi-National Capital Region to determine the impact on the success of startups. Qualitative research methodology is used to conduct interviews with 11 founders of startups in this region to explore the influence of adopting technology and innovation in providing competitive advantage to the startup. Thematic analysis is used to arrive at emergent patterns. The themes emerging from this study which influence technology adoption and innovation in startups are Innovation, funding, persistence, risk taking, external environment.
