Abstract | Background: Dhara Sweda is a traditional Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy that involves the pouring of warm medicated oil or liquid over the body, followed by gentle massage and sweating. This therapy has been used for centuries to promote physical and mental well-being. Objective: To review the existing literature on the therapeutic efficacy and clinical utility of Dhara Sweda in Ayurvedic practice. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using various databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Ayurvedic research journals. Studies published in English were included, and data was extracted on the therapeutic applications, clinical outcomes, and safety profile of Dhara Sweda. Results: The review revealed that Dhara Sweda has been traditionally used to manage various health conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, neurological diseases, and mental health disorders. The therapy has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anxiolytic properties, and has been shown to improve sleep quality, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance overall well-being. Conclusion: Dhara Sweda is a safe and effective Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy that offers therapeutic benefits for various health conditions. Further research is needed to fully explore its clinical utility and potential applications in integrative healthcare. |
